6 Highlights from Milan Fashion Week

MAX MARA If there’s a show from Milan Fashion Week that never lets me down it is Max Mara. Able to bring back the past, but keeping it timeless, the vision behind this brand is the contemporary woman who wears the pants. The whole show was coherent, lots of suits were spotted on the runway, as well as chic-as-hell jumpsuits. Among plenty of modern looks, Max Mara brought back the classic messenger bag which dates back to 1958, along with the statement camel coat which marked the brand success in the 80’s.

GUCCI The secret behind this brand’s success is definitely the bold vision of Rome based designer Alessandro Michele. This runway was an intense experience starting from the venue, the choice of lighting and music which resulted into a strong atmosphere. Above are some of our favorite looks, which include a velvet blazer, important prints and cool accessories. Matching some powerful garments to jeans and tees made these outfits actually “ready-to-wear”.

FENDI Karl Lagerfeld’s inspiration for this show was about the concept of “triangulation”. Triangles were behind every sketch of the designer, from triangular shoulders to the attention given to the waist point. When looking at Fendi we always have to remember the heritage of the brand, which translates into incredibly detailed fur and leather pieces such as some jackets from this Spring / Summer 2018 collection. The handbags? They’re already a trend.

VERSACE There’s a lot to say about this show, which became a social media phenomenon during Milan Fashion Week. This collection was a tribute to designer Gianni Versace, who was murdered 20 years ago. Donatella chose to go through Gianni’s archives to put together a stunning collection made of statement prints and eccentric total looks. The real highlight? Donatella surprised everyone during the show finale, as she invited back on the runway 4 top models from the 90’s including Naomi Campbell and Cindy Crawford. Watch the video HERE.

MARCO DE VINCENZO A show we really enjoyed watching was Marco De Vincenzo’s. The sicilian designer always knows how to put his roots into the collection in an interesting way, the Ultrapharum tees are no exception. The most interesting looks from this collection include beaded skirts, slip dresses, the unusual match of colors as well as the incredible prints. No doubt Marco’s show was one of the highlights from Milan Fashion Week.

DOLCE&GABBANA We can never have enough of Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana. The two designers, who present their show out of the official Milan Fashion Week calendar, are able to bring the crowds not only to see the show, but also outside the venue where fashion lovers show up just for a chance to get a glimpse of the show and of the magical Dolce&Gabbana world. “Queen of hearts” was the name of this collection, which was a mix of elaborated and embellished looks where the cards theme was always present.
